It Is All Within

Trigger Warning // depression, self-harm

The worst kind of battle is the one inside you.

The one that you have to fight with nobody beside you.

The one that leaves you extremely drained

Of all your energy, where you’d feel constrained.

So you pray and pray,

But the sadness never goes away.

And the voices in your head only grow louder

But they are so cunning - not a sound they make

Yet it never gets quieter.

You're withering now,

I know you're withering down.

And they ask you, "what's wrong with you?"

And you don't have a reply,

So you can only lie.

Your heart gets heavy with the words you cannot say,

And your tongue feels twisted in a weird way.

You want to shout and you want to cry,

But you're so numb - An empty vessel of suppressed emotions.

So you only run,

you run.

You run from yourself and who you used to be,

I don't understand at all, how you cannot see.

That being so harsh on yourself all the time,

and being someone else won't make things right - honey your heart is lying!

And I know, that little voice in your head is making you go crazy.

Understand, self-criticism is good until you take it sportingly.

And too much of it will only kill you unknowingly.

You need to understand that this is not the pain they gave you.

You are processing it on your own.

Then, you've slashed it on your left wrist,

But not anymore,

You have to try to stop it,

Before it consumes you whole.

Why are you feeling so lonely

When did you used to love being alone?

Why does this silence bother you now?

You were a strong, strong woman, now you feel so weak and bound?

But honey worry not, you'll pick yourself piece by piece.

In no time you will be standing back on your feet,

Shining brighter than the stars.

You wouldn't need any company,

So trust yourself and love yourself.

You will be the strong woman

That you’ve always meant to be.
