I’ve watched The Crown
There’s an episode
About Prince Philip.
He asked three astronauts
About how it is on the moon,
How it impacted them spiritually.
Yet what he got is not philosophically enriched men,
He got ordinary men, who came with colds,
Men who explored physically, not spiritually.
Poor Philip wanted the grandeur of the moon landing,
What he got was scientists doing their jobs only,
Not “gods” or “giants”, just men.
Anticlimactic,
Little,
Disappointing.
A priest he dismissed
He came back to,
With grandeur unattained, with faith missing, wishing it back.
This got me questioning,
Take off all the makings of a royal,
What is he?
Strip us of all our achievements and contributions
What are we
But ordinary humans?
We are left with faith
The episode is trying to say,
Those who don’t have faith,
May be lost forever
Unless help is asked and given.
So for any renewal to begin,
Start by undressing yourselves
And look what is left,
Is it faith that stabilises us, regardless of whom or what,
Or a feeling of lost in this wave of life?
