Tsurumi Island is an island with an ancient civilization living within the thick fog, having not once seen sunlight nor met other island dwellers. It is my job as the spirit of storm and lightning to roam around this ancient realm to ensure safety. However, I find no value in their life whatsoever. Except for today. A chorus sung by a child. It has captured my heart.
He has no fear upon meeting my being. A brave child.“Kanna Kapatchir, So, do you like my song?” the child chirped. It gave me a name? Very daring I’d say. “I do not know. I only know I have not heard it before.” He smiled the softest smile I had seen for millennia. “I shall sing you another tune- when you come again with thunder and rain.” I have no hope for this child, he might be gone by the time we meet again. “Perhaps I might forget you immediately, young child.” “Well, I won’t forget you! See you.” He went off into the fogs as he waved me goodbye.
He’s right. We did meet again.
A body limp, drained out of blood, its organ placed one by one on the floor of the ceremonial site. I know the face. “Why!” I demanded answers.
“Great bird of thunder, we have given you a sacrifice, a sacrifice to please and honour you, with the body of the child you adore. We hope you bring us blessings with our offering.” the leader said. I can see this puny human tremble before my being.
“Sacrifice? Pleased by a sacrifice made from your own blood and kind?” Lightning engulfed me. “WHY?!” my scream synched with thunder. The thundering storm swept across the ocean alongside me. With the flap of my wings, purple lightning tore down the sky like serpents, hitting everything in its path. “Why, why, why, why, WHY?” My cry shakes the ocean depths and heart of the earth. I screamed as I sent down a wall of lightning and destroyed the ceremonial site. Everything was destroyed. I can smell the scent of burning flesh as I leave for another Island.
Lightning and thunder decorate the island as more and more flesh has been charred to death. “Great bird of thunder, today-” “I go by Kanna Kapatchir.” “Ehem, well then Kanna Kapatchir, your reign of terror will not bring back the child you lost. The humans had been punished enough.” The Raiden Shogun stood fierce with her army. I looked up at the sky, a storm was coming near. “Now, you shall perish.” The sword pierced through my chest as I felt my life force draining. “Young child, I am now able to listen to your new song. Wait for me, my child.” My body disintegrated into the air, leaving particles of electricity roaming my once prideful throne.
