Faint

The little boy crouched while reaching out his hand towards the small ball of fur. He always wanted one, but his mommy didn’t really like it.

His eyes widened when his small hand went completely through its body. He quickly pulled back and stared at the kitty. It was still watching him carefully.

He plopped down on the ground with a huff. He always wanted to pet one, but his mom didn’t let him! He continued staring enviously at the cat, hoping he could feel its seemingly soft fur.

Then his eyes shifted towards another one stirring up from its sleep. He stood up again, and slowly approached this one. He stretched out his fingers to pet its head but again, his hand just went through like there was nothing there.

He stood up and sighed in disappointment. Deciding to give up, he turned back and headed for his home. After a few minutes of walking, he found another one in the middle of the road. But this one was different. There was a pool of blood around its body, and it did not look like it was sleeping.

The little boy whimpered at the sight and ran straight for the poor kitten. He wasn’t sure why, but this one reminded him a bit of himself. He reached for its body, wanting to pick it up from the ground.

Imagine his surprise when he did get to do so!

He gently hugged the little kitten to his chest. Slowly, he continued his steps toward his home without looking back. He passed by a few women grimacing at the stain of blood left on the road.

“Poor kitten! This road is a bit dangerous, right? Just yesterday, a little boy passed away from an accident too!”
